The Position:

The Bindery Operator Lead is responsible for operating bindery machines and equipment to meet company and client requirements for quality, quantity, and time schedules on production printing jobs. The Bindery Operator reports directly to the Production Manager. They will lead and coordinate the bindery/folding/cutting activities and functions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates the assignment and loading daily
  • Monitors status on in-process jobs
  • Ensures all operators are trained and instructed to meet quality and accuracy of scheduled jobs
  • Processes job tickets
  • Performs the setup and preparation of bindery machines equipment for scheduled and assigned bindery jobs
  • Operates bindery machines and equipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Monitors supply of bindery materials and supplies and reports needs to ensure deadlines are met
  • Performs and records necessary routine and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Maintains work areas in a safe manner
  • Create quote letters and submit pricing to clients
  • Record and manage alterations needed
  • Attends and participates in workshops, continuing educational programs, seminars and training as needed
  • Practices and continues to develop team working relationship
  • Demonstrates good judgement and accountability
  • Quality checks work
  • Performs other duties as requested

Required Talents & Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Must have 7 years’ experience in a production or printing environment
  • Must have 1 to 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • Must be able to operate polar cutters, MBO/Stahl folders, Muller Martini stitchers
  • Self-Motivated
  • Proven ability to lead
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under deadlines to meet customer demand
  • Shift is 2 pm to 10 pm Monday through Friday
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, majority of day spent bending, reaching, lifting and walking. Moderate noise level due to operation of machinery than can be intense or continuous.
